Police: Man tried pulling 13-year-old girl into his SUV in Skokie

(SKOKIE) Police in north suburban Skokie are looking for a man who allegedly tried grabbing a 13-year-old girl leaving school Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was leaving Old Orchard Junior High School and was walking toward Niles North High School at 3:20 p.m., Skokie police said in a statement. A man, thought to be in his 30s, pulled up to a parking lot at 4831 Golf Road in a small blue SUV and got out of the vehicle, police said.

He then approached the girl and asked for directions to a nearby restaurant before pulling her toward the SUV, police said. The girl reached into her backpack and pulled out a few metal padlocks on a string and hit the man in his jaw, police said.

The girl told police the man has an accent and is missing two fingers from his right hand. He is described to be of a heavy build and stands between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9, police said. He has black hair and was wearing a two-toned blue jacket, blue jeans and brown boots.
