Naperville firefighter hurt after floor collapses in burning home

(NAPERVILLE) A Naperville firefighter was injured after the first floor of a burning home he was inside collapsed, causing him to fall to the basement.

Firefighters responded to the blaze about 10 a.m. Sunday in the 7S600 block of Olesen, according to a statement from the Naperville Fire Department.

Fire crews entered the wood frame home through the front door to begin an interior attack and search for occupants. About 20 minutes later, a firefighter fell through the main floor and into the basement of the home.

Rescue crews rushed to remove him and he was taken to Edward hospital in Naperville, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The blaze was struck out at 11:35 a.m. and no one else was injured, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
