Aurora fire leaves six condos ‘uninhabitable’

(AURORA) Six condominiums in west suburban Aurora were left “uninhabitable” after an attic fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire in the 18-unit building in the 200 block of North Gregory Street started about 1:55 p.m., according to a release from the Aurora Fire Department. Crews were called after a resident found the fire.

Upon arrival, crews found fire in the attic that was shooting through the roof, according to the statement. Six fire engines were called to the scene at the fire was under control by 2:30 p.m.

No one was injured, but the fire left an estimated $300,000 in damages and six units were left “uninhabitable,” according to the statement.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
