Three charged with trespassing on ComEd property in Will County

(MANHATTAN TWP.) Three people were arrested early Thursday after police caught them trespassing on Commonwealth Edison property in southwest suburban Will County, officials said.

Robert L. Pitts, Latora A. Lee and Alfred L. Mitchell were taken into custody after Will County sheriff’s police received a call of people trespassing on the property at 14040 Watkins Rd. near Manhattan, the department said in a statement.

When deputies arrived, they found the three in a vehicle trying to drive away, the statement said. Police stopped the car, and arrested them after deputies saw items inside the vehicle that could be used as burglary tools.

Pitts, 46, of Hammond, Ind.; Lee, 25, of Chicago Heights; and Mitchell, 46, of Park Forest, were all charged with possession of burglary tools, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and criminal damage to state supported property, police said.

They were being held in the Will County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
