North Barrington man indicted on additional child pornography charges

James M. Parsino | Lake County sheriff’s police

(WAUKEGAN) A North Barrington man accused of having child pornography is facing additional charges after authorities learned he also sent the images to other people, police said Wednesday.

James M. Parsino, 50, was arrested July 8 and initially charged with three felony counts of possession of child pornography, Lake County sheriff’s office said at the time.

Authorities found that he had devices containing “an extensive amount” of images and videos of pornography depicting children under the age of 13, police said.

At the time of his arrest, sheriff’s police said authorities were still conducting forensic examinations because of the high volume of electronic media, and that additional charges were possible.

Further investigation found that Parsino also electronically distributed the videos to other people, police claim.

A Lake County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Parsino on five counts each of dissemination of child pornography, a class X felony, and possession of child pornography, a class 2 felony, police said.

Parsino, of the 100 block of North Rainbow Road in North Barrington, is being held in the Lake County jail on a $250,000 bond, police said.

The sheriff’s office and the Lake County state’s attorney’s Cybercrimes Unit began investigating the case in mid-2014, police said.

Each class X felony carries a possible sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison, according to the sheriff’s office.
