Chicago chiropractor gets 3 years after pleading guilty to child porn charge

(CHICAGO) A Chicago chiropractor was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday after he pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography.

Neil Sussman, 61, was charged in 2014 after an investigation by the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to a statement from the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Prosecutors claim Sussman had been searching for an downloading child pornography on his computer.

Authorities recovered a laptop from his home in the 5400 block of North Sheridan, which contained numerous pictures and videos depicting children involved in various sex acts with adults, officials said.

He has since pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography, a class 2 felony, the statement said.

Cook County Judge Matthew Coghlan sentenced Sussman to three years in prison during a hearing Thursday, the state’s attorney’s office said. Sussman will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Sussman’s professional license was suspended in January 2014 because of the charges, according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
