U.S. 30 detour in Plainfield for paving

(CHICAGO) Traffic will be detoured off U.S. 30 from Renwick Road to Illinois 59 in Plainfield as paving work will begin in the ongoing reconstruction and widening of U.S. 30.

The detour will begin Sept. 18, weather permitting, and the detoured portion of the project will be completed by late November, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Construction will start as early as 6 a.m. on some days and possibly lasting until 6 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist with the detour, according to the statement.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay attention to flaggers and signs in the work zone and to obey posted speed limits, according to the statement.

The overall improvements to U.S. 30 will be completed by Summer 2017.
