Carol Stream man fatally struck by Metra train in Wheaton

(CHICAGO) A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metra train in west suburban Wheaton Friday night committed suicide, according to the coroner.

The 46-year-old Carol Stream man was fatally struck by Chicago-bound train No. 66 near the Main Street station in Wheaton about 9:30 p.m., according to Metra officials and the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Trains were delayed for several hours following the collision, Metra spokesman Tom Miller added.

The man committed suicide, according to the coroner’s office. His name was not being released due to the circumstances of his death.
