Armed robberies reported in North Center, Lake View

(CHICAGO) Police are warning residents about two armed robberies last week in the North Center and Lake View neighborhoods on the North Side.

During these incidents, suspects approached victims on the street or alley and pulled out a handgun, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The most recent robbery happened about 2:20 a.m. Sept. 26 in the 2400 block of West Berenice Avenue, while the other happened about 5:20 a.m. Sept. 23 in the 1000 block of West Newport Avenue, police said.

The suspect in the Lake View robbery is described as a 5-foot-9, 150-pound, black man between 22 and 27 years old, police said. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants and gym shoes with black and blue trim.

The Berenice suspect is described as a 5-foot-11, 170-pound, 20-year-old black man police said. He was last seen wearing a red sweater, a skullcap and jeans with stitched patterns on the back pockets.
