Alternatives to Slash a Property Tax Hike

By Bill Cameron, WLS News

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proposed a property tax hike of over half of a billion dollars, but one of the independent Aldermen, Scott Waguespack, says the alternatives his group has proposed could make that hit half as bad.

“Well, we offered over one billion dollars in alternatives. So the 24 to 25 that were talking about and then many other ones below that that were worth, $5 million here savings in the budget of, ya know, reduced spending, $10 million here and there. We felt that even if you took a small percentage of what we offered it would reduce the property tax hike by close to $250 to $300 million dollars,” said Waguespack.

And while taping “Connected to Chicago” for Sunday night at 7 this Wicker Park alderman predicted that the Cubs will win the World Series.
