(LEMONT) A woman was killed and another person was seriously injured in a head-on crash early Tuesday near southwest suburban Lemont.
A silver Honda and a black Chevrolet crashed head-on on Route 83 about one mile east of Archer Avenue at 5:20 a.m., Cook County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.
The driver of the Honda, identified as 22-year-old Lidija Krajewski by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Ansari said. Krajewski lived in the 16600 block of Paw Paw Avenue in Orland Park, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the Chevrolet, also female, was hospitalized with “major injuries,” Ansari said. Her age was not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
