(CHICAGO) Bail has been set at $750,000 for a Lincoln Park High School teacher who is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15 year old boy. The teenager that 32 year old teacher Benjamin Zollo is accused of having sex with, is not a student at Lincoln Park High School.
The two met online last fall and prosecutors say, after a month of corresponding, agreed to meet at Zollo’s home on the 1900 block of North Oakley. Their get-togethers continued every two weeks for three months.
When the two spent New Year’s Eve together, the 15-year olds parents called police to report their son missing. When he returned the next day and the parents learned what had been taking place, police and the school were contacted.
“This is completely, completely out of character these allegations. He’s just a very distinguished individual,” says Zollo’s lawyer, Marc Davison.
Zollo is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault. Lincoln Park High School says he has been suspended.
