Construction projects on Route 31 in St. Charles scheduled through summer, fall

(ST. CHARLES) Two construction projects on Route 31 in and around west suburban St. Charles have begun and are scheduled to be finished towards the end of the year, which could mean the road will be reduced to one lane as crews work.

Work will be done on Route 31 south of Crane Road to Ferson Creek Road as the Illinois Department of Transportation replaces the culvert under the roadway at Ferson Creek and widens and resurfaces the road, according to a statement from the St. Charles officials.

Utility relocation work has started on this portion of the project, which is scheduled to be finished by fall 2016, according to the statement.

Work will be done on Route 31 and Silver Glen Road as IDOT installs a traffic signal and widens an resurfaces the road south of Silver Glen Road, which will extend north .3 miles through St. Charles Township, according to the statement.

Additionally, Silver Glen Road west of Route 31 will be widened and resurfaced. This portion of the project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2016, according to the statement.
