Rahm on His Job and Lucas Museum

By Bill Cameron, WLS News

(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel took questions from reporters for the first time in more than a week and says, again, he won’t quit.

With so many people demanding he resign for so many reasons, an outspoken reporter asked Emanuel how he feels waking up in the morning these days.

“Looking forward to seeing you,” Emanuel quipped. “Here’s how I look at it. I’m not resigning because I’m energized by doing the job to move Chicago forward …from educational to public safety to economics and job creation and my focus is not going to be where I stand today or in any given moment.”

On some of those problems, the mayor said it would be shameful if Gov. Bruce Rauner really did talk up bankruptcy to make Chicago Public Schools pay much more to borrow the money to keep the doors open and he also left a door open to asking George and Melody Lucas if they’d accept a different site for their museum now that the case against their lakefront site is going to trial.
