(NORTHBROOK) A man was struck and killed by a freight train Saturday at an intersection of Metra and freight train tracks in north suburban Northbrook, authorities said.

Michael Waldron, 28, of the 0-100 block of Buttonwood Lane in Northbrook, was hit by a train at 7:08 a.m. at 2701 Shermer Rd., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Sunday found he died of multiple injuries as a result of the accident and that he had traces of alcohol in his system. His death was ruled an accident.

A Metra spokesman said Sunday that two trains were delayed after the incident.
