(LYNWOOD) Lane reduction on U.S. 30 will begin Monday in south suburban Lynwood for pavement work.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on U.S. 30 from the Indiana State Line to Glenwood-Dyer Road to finish pavement construction that connects lanes on Lincoln Highway to the Canadian National Railroad tracks, according to a statement from the Illinois Department of Transportation.

To allow for construction of new pavement, traffic will shift onto the westbound lanes of Lincoln Highway, according to the statement.

Additionally, the north entrance to Old Lincoln Highway will be closed as workers construct new pavement. Drivers will be detoured to the Sauk Trail entrance.

This construction is part of a larger project involving grade separation and roadway reconstruction on Lincoln Highway at the Canadian National railroad tracks. The goal of the project, which is scheduled for completion by Summer 2016, is to eliminate the at-grade railroad track crossing to reduce the potential for accidents, congestion and delays.

Drivers can expect delays through this area, and should allow extra travel time.
