Chicago Moms Hope To Quell Violence

(CHICAGO) It’s spring break for Chicago Public School School students and a group of volunteers will be out in Chicago trying to prevent gun violence.

Mothers Against Senseless Killings, or MASK, say groups of volunteers will be active in a number of Chicago communities.

“The thing is, we’ve proven that when there is involvement from the community, the violent crime numbers decrease, it goes down, and so the more of us that get engaged, the better off we will be, the better we can fight it,” MASK founder Tamar Manasseh told the Jonathan Brandmeier Show on WLS.

MASK, which was launched in 2015, will have activities in the Grand Crossing, South Shore, Austin and Englewood neighborhoods, to name a few. They also plan to be active during summer break.
