(CHANNAHON) A 74-year-old man died Sunday evening when his motorcycle crashed into semi truck on Interstate 55 in south suburban Channahon Township.

Melvin H. Weidner, of New Lenox, was driving the motorcycle on the Arsenal Road ramp to northbound I-55 when the bike struck a semi, according to the Will County coroner’s office.

Weidner was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:35 p.m., the coroner’s office said. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Additional information was not immediately available early Monday. Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
