Sheriff: Waukegan man agreed to sell cocaine to undercover cop

(WAUKEGAN) A north suburban man who allegedly agreed to sell one kilo of cocaine to an undercover detective is being held on a $750,000 bond.

Jonathan Nieto, 33, agreed to sell an undercover Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force Detective one kilogram of cocaine for more than $30,000, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

When Nieto arrived at a Waukegan location with the cocaine on May 4, he was arrested, according to police.

A search of his home in the 600 block of Bluff Street in Waukegan turned up 100 more ounces of cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic pistol and more than $1,900 in cash, police said.

Nieto was charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

He is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $750,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court May 31.
