Chicago woman dies days after crash in Evanston

(CHICAGO) A Chicago woman died four days after she was involved in a crash in north suburban Evanston.

Zinaida Mincu, 79, of the 4500 block of North Clarendon Avenue in Uptown, was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. June 13 of complications from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision, according to Evanston police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Mincu was driving a Honda eastbound on Central Street near Orrington Avenue about 4:09 p.m. on June 9, according to police. She failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the side of a landscaping truck driving southbound on Orrington.

Mincu was taken to Evanston Hospital in serious condition, but here injuries were later changed to not life-threatening, police said. She was cited for disobeying a stop sign, not having valid insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
