10 a.m. — (CHICAGO) Chicago History Museum hosts its 57th annual Fourth of July Celebration, featuring family activities, children’s parade, live music and more. 1601 N. Clark St.

 

10 a.m. — (AURORA) 4th of July Parade begins at the corner of Benton and River Streets, then goes east on Benton, north on Broadway, west on Downer, north on Stolp, west on Galena and south on River Street, ending at Downer Place.

 

10 a.m. — (LAKE BLUFF) 4th of July Celebration features parade (10 a.m. from Oak Avenue at Center Avenue to Village Green), followed by inaugural Kiwanis Hamburger & Hot Dog Cookout. Downtown around Center and Scranton, Lake Bluff.  .

 

10 a.m. — (HINSDALE) Fourth of July features parade (10 a.m.), game and activities in the park, live music and fireworks. Burlington Park, 30 E. Chicago Ave., Hinsdale

 

10 a.m. — (BARRINGTON) Annual 4th of July Parade steps off from the Metra station parking lot. 201 S. Spring St., Barrington.

 

10 a.m. — (LAKE ZURICH) Annual Independence/Family Day features live, music, carnival rides, Taste of Summer, boat parade and fireworks. Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.

 

10 a.m. — (MOKENA) Fourth of July events include a parade (10 a.m. from La Porte and Wolf roads), 2nd Kentucky Calvary Re-enactment (6:30 p.m.), patriotic music and fireworks. Main Park, 10925 W. La Porte Rd., Mokena.

 

10 a.m. — (HOMEWOOD) Fourth of July Parade (10 a.m. along Ridge Road to Izaak Walton Preserve) and Family Fest featuring music, games, activities and fireworks. 1100 Ridge Rd., Homewood.

 

10 a.m. — (WHITING, Ind.) City hosts its 97th annual July 4th Parade, which goes south on Indianapolis Boulevard to 199th Street, then east through the historic downtown area toward Lakefront Park, followed by family party including food and costumed superhero characters.

 

11 a.m. — (CHICAGO) Nichols Park Advisory Council and South East Chicago Commission host neighborhood 4th of July Parade, followed by food, entertainment and kids activities. Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St.

 

11 a.m. — (WHEATON) Fourth of July events include parade, food, music, kids’ activities and fireworks. Graf Park, 1701 Manchester Rd., Wheaton.

 

11 a.m. — (CHICAGO) An Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade and Picnic also features family activities, games and more. 53rd Street and Kimbark Avenue.

 

11 a.m. — (AURORA) Aurora Historical Society hosts Fourth of July celebration, featuring live entertainment, petting zoo, pie-eating contest, plus joining in the nationwide synchronized ringing of the bell by children (1 p.m.). 304 Oak Ave., Aurora.

 

11 a.m. — (OAK LAWN) Fourth of July events include parade (10 a.m. from 95th and 51st), kids games and activities, swimming, music and more, then fireworks. Centennial Park, 93rd and Nashville, Oak Lawn.

 

11:45 a.m. — (GLENVIEW) 51st annual 4th of July Parade starts at Glenview Road and Harlem Avenue and goes south on Harlem and west on Central to Johns Park.

 

Noon — (SKOKIE) Fourth of July Parade starts at Oakton Community College, then along Oakton Street to Oakton Park; and is followed by a Family Celebration and fireworks at Niles West High School. 5701 Oakton St., Skokie.

 

Noon — (NAPERVILLE) Ribfest 2016 features food, live music, games and rides, kids’ activities, foreworks and more. Knoch Park, 724 S. West St., Naperville.

 

Noon — (CHICAGO) African/Caribbean International Festival of Life features art, crafts, music, marketplace, food and games, activities and more. Through July 4. Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St.

 

Noon — (VILLA PARK) Fourth of July events include parade (10:30 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, then west on Central to Harvard, south to Madison, east to Summit, north to Park, and west on Park to Ardmore. No fireworks.

 

Noon — (PALOS HEIGHTS) Fourth of July Parade goes along Harlem Avenue from 126th Street to Route 83.

 

12:45 p.m. — (DOWNERS GROVE) Fourth of July Celebration includes parade (12:45 p.m.), live entertainment and family activities, and fireworks. Fishel Park, 1050 Grove St., Downers Grove.

 

 

1 p.m. — (MOUNT PROSPECT) Fourth of July Parade kicks off from Emerson and Prospect.

 

1 p.m. — (MOUNT PROSPECT) 78th annual Mount Prospect Lions Club Festival features food, games, rides, live entertainment and more. Melas Park, Central at Busse, Mount Prospect.

 

1:30 p.m. — (GLENWOOD) 4th of July Festival features parade (1 p.m. from Glenwood Oaks Restaurant then east on Mapl and north on NUgent to Village Hall); food, live entertainment, games and activities and fireworks. 19301 S. State St., Glenwood.

 

2 p.m. — (EVANSTON) 4th of July Parade begins at Central Street and Central Park Avenue, then goes east to Ryan Field.

 

3 p.m. — (OAK FOREST) 29th annual Oak Fest Fourth of July festival featured food, games, rides, live entertainment, kids’ activities and more. 159th and Central Avenue, Oak Forest.

 

3 p.m. — (ST. CHARLES) Fourth of July Fireworks follow day of activities in the park. Pottawatomie Park, Main Street and North 2nd Avenue, St. Charles.

 

3 p.m. — (KANKAKEE) Kankakee Valley Youth Symphony and Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra perform annual pops concert (5:30 p.m.), preceded by children’s activities, arts and crafts and more; and followed by fireworks show. Kankakee Community College, 100 College Dr., Kankakee.

 

4 p.m. — (GREAT LAKES) Great Lakes Naval Base hosts 4th of July Celebration with live music, Kids Zone, live family entertainment, “Fun and Fitness” area, marketplace, costumed characters, carnival rides and games, food and fireworks. Naval Station Great Lakes, Ross Field, Route 137, Great Lakes.

 

4 p.m. — (TINLEY PARK) Fourth of July events include crafts, music, live entertainment and fireworks. McCarthy Park, 16801 S. 80th Ave., Tinley Park.

 

4 p.m. — (WESTMONT) Independence Day events include petting zoo, watermelon-eating contest, food from local restaurants, live music and fireworks. Ty Warner Park, 700 Blackhawk Dr., Westmont.

 

4 p.m. — (WILMETTE) Fourth of July events include family activities, food, patriotic music and fireworks. Gillson Park, Lake at Michigan, Wilmette.

 

5 p.m. — (BATAVIA) Annual fireworks sky concert also features food and live music. Until 10 p.m. Millview Drive and Main Street, Batavia.

 

6 p.m. — (AURORA) City hosts 4th of July festivities including food, patriotic music and fireworks. RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway Ave., Aurora.

 

6 p.m. — (ROUND LAKE BEACH) 4th of July Celebration features concert of patriotic music, followed by fireworks. Cultural & Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way, Round Lake Beach.

 

6 p.m. — (ELMWOOD PARK) Fourth of July events include patriotic concert and fireworks. Elmwood Park High School, 8201 W. Fullerton Ave., Elmwood Park.

 

6:30 p.m. — (CHICAGO) Grant Park Music Festival presents its annual “Independence Day Salute” concert, featuring the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Choir of Scotland. Millennium Park, Pritzker Pavilion, Michigan at Randolph.

 

6:30 p.m. — (EVANSTON) 4th of July events include performance by Palatine Concert Band, followed by fireworks. Dawes Park, Sheridan at Lake, Evanston.

 

7 p.m. — (BUFFALO GROVE) 4th of July Concert and Fireworks. Rotary Village Green, 260 N Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove.
