(SOUTH HOLLAND) A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday on the Bishop Ford Freeway in south suburban South Holland, police said.

About 1:05 a.m., she was driving an SUV on the Bishop Ford (I-94) southbound ramp to eastbound I-80 when she lost control of the vehicle, according to Illinois State Police. Speed may have played a role in the crash.

The woman, whose exact age was not known, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Three other people suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said. Two were taken to Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond and another was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The ramp was estimated to reopen to traffic by 5:30 a.m. as an accident reconstruction team investigates, police said.
