Pilot killed in glider crash in Minooka

(MINOOKA) A southwest suburban man died in a glider crash Saturday afternoon in Minooka.

James M. Patton, 69, of Tinley Park, was the pilot of a private glider that crashed into a field in the 26000 block of West Airport Road in Minooka, according to the Will County coroner’s office. Maps show the Chicago Glider Club is located in the area.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:30 p.m., the coroner’s office said. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The Will County sheriff’s office, the FAA and the NTSB are all investigating the incident.
