Wizard World 2016 Heroes Honoring Heroes (9)

(ROSEMONT) On Thursday, five officers of the Rosemont Public Safety Department were recognized in the Heroes Honoring Heroes hosted by Wizard World, Inc. at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

“I’ve been a sherriff for the past 12 years in LA,” said Incredible Hulk star, Lou Ferrigno. “And I’m very honored [to be] here for the Rosemont Public Safety Bureau of Fire Suppression.”

The Bureau of Fire Suppression provides emergency medical and fire related services for up to 100,000 visitors to the city each day. Duties include responding to firearm reports, rescue operations, fire, smoke and medical calls among others.

Ferrigno honored Commander John Ramirez with a Captain America shield award who later, when asked what he would do with the award said, “you will see the shield on the fire truck!”

The four other officers who were honored included, Officer Nick Koletsos, Lieutenant Michael O’Neill, Sergeant Blake Fiorito and Segeant Edward Karas, all Rosemont Public Safety workers.

Karate Kid Ralph Macchio was another presenter. “I’m proud to be able to say these words,” he started.

Macchio continued to give statistics and information saying that the “fire dept operates state of the art advanced life supports ambulances 24 hours per day.”

He then awarded Officer Nick Koletsos his “adamantium-vibranium alloy” replica shield.

Other presenters included Cerina Vincent of Not Another Teen Movie and Power Rangers; Jason Mewes, who is known for his role in Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back; and Ray Santiago from Ash vs Evil Dead.
