(CHICAGO) With thousands of marchers expected for the Women’s March on Chicago on Saturday, January 21, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications has advised residents and motorists to be aware of the traffic impacts and increased parking restrictions.

The marchers will connect in downtown Chicago in support of women’s rights and civil liberties.

“The city has been an active partner in the comprehensive planning process for the March to ensure the appropriate staffing and resources are allocated for the event, while also ensuring appropriate coverage throughout the city,” said Alicia Tate-Nadeau, OEMC executive director. “As always, the city will ensure the First Amendment rights of those participating in the March as well as the safety and security of residents and visitors in the area.”

Participants will assemble at around 8:00 a.m. in Grant Park today with a speaking program beginning at 10 a.m.  The march will step off at 11:30 a.m. on Columbus, south of Monroe. They will march west on Jackson to Dearborn, south on Dearborn to Federal Plaza. Organizers expect marchers to disband at Jackson and Dearborn.

Metra, CTA and South Shore Line are expected to have additional service for the event.
