(BURBANK) After 55 years in service, the popular female-only Catholic institution, Queen of Peace High School in Burbank, will close its doors at the end of this school year.

In a statement released by the president of the southwest suburban high school, it was cited that “declining enrollment,” and “disappointing turnout for new student testing” are the reasons behind the decision.

The institution is working with other local schools to help ease the transition for students into other schools. Historically, parochial schools have offered scholarships as well as financial aid for students attending. These are both factors that require assistance, which has been promised to students, from administrators at Queen of Peace.
