(CHICAGO) A walk home from school turns into a terrifying experience.

Brianna Hull-Sanders, 12, was on her way home from school with her sister Wednesday when she was attacked by a pit bull in Stickney. She now has nine stitches and will need plastic surgery after the wound near her eye heals.

Brianna tells ABC7 the attack happened after she and her sister ran into a boy from school who teased the girls with the dog. “The dog was too strong. The leash slipped out of his hand and then the dog just came and jumped at my face,” said Hull-Sanders.

The victim’s 11 year old sister fought-off the dog. “He was dangling on her, so then I slapped him off. And then he was on his hind legs and then I slapped him off again and then he got off,” said Brittany Hull-Sanders.

The owner of the dog has been cited by the village for allowing the animal to run loose and for not having a license.
