Racist emails by city water employees draws reaction from Black Caucus chairman

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO)  The revelation of racist emails by a supervisor and others in the city water department is drawing reaction from the chairman of the City Council’s Black Caucus.

Ald. Rod Sawyer says “People who despise their fellow Chicagoans should not be in positions vital to public health and safety.” He added he’s  glad the system to root them out is working, saying “It’s not that it was a secret that it occurred. What’s new is that we found out about it. We have proof of it now. “

When asked if this may be ‘another case of sunlight is the best disinfectant’, Sawyer responded, “I think you’re absolutely correct.”

So, is this one of those rare cases of a politician saying the system is working?
