Special Session: Finger pointing continues on school funding

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(SPRINGFIELD, IL) On orders from Governor Bruce Rauner, the state legislature goes back into special session on school funding today. But there is no apparent solution in sight. Speaker Mike Madigan says if Rauner won’t negotiate, he ought to drop all the political theater and just sign the Democrats bill.

But Rauner says he won’t negotiate until he can veto what he calls the Chicago pension bail out in the bill saying “I will amendatory veto it and from there they can discuss the changes that I made and implement either

those or if somebody else has a better idea, that’s fine.”

Apparently, the finger pointing will continue as each side tries to avoid the blame if some school districts don’t open on time.
