Developer Tries To Lure Amazon

(CHICAGO) — Could Amazon locate a proposed headquarters on the site of the old Finkl Steel site? One developer is trying to lure them that way.

Sterling Bay today released plans for the former Finkl Steel site. The development called “Lincoln Yards” and the developers hope it will draw Amazon’s new second headquarters to Chicago.

Tom Stringer, a site selection manager at BDO real estate advisory services, tells Big John and Ramblin’ Ray on WLS that there are other cities that may better meet Amazon’s strategic needs.

“We don’t know what that is, only Amazon knows what that strategic need is,” Stringer said. “We could speculate as to what it is but just from my view point, I don’t see Chicago as meeting that strategic need.”

The project would include an extension of the popular 606 trail as well as an added Metra stop, green space and improving access to the Chicago River.
