Former wrestler running for Illinois Governor

(CHICAGO)  A former pro-wrestler who was known as “The Illustrious One”, is running for Illinois Governor.    Jon Stewart is a candidate for the Libertarian nomination, hoping to follow in the footsteps of former wrestler Jesse Ventura, who served as Governor of Minnesota.

Stewart told “The Big John and Ramblin’ Ray Show” on WLS, that he is upset about not being invited to an upcoming candidate’s forum in Mount Prospect on October 18th, especially since it is being held in a banquet hall run by his wife Joann.

The Daily Herald ABC 7 forum is sponsored by the Lake County Federation of Teachers Local 504, and is for Democratic Party candidates only, but Stewart told WLS that inclusion for third party candidates is vital if the public is ever to get different views on the issues.

“Something that I was warned about a couple of months ago, that you can have the greatest ideas in the world, but you might get shut out.  That’s one thing Jesse Ventura always said.   He said he won the Governor’s race if he could debate em’, he could beat em’.   And if they’re not going to let me debate and especially if I get the nomination and I can’t debate em’ on T.V., you know, I just continue to circle the drain on this.”

Stewart is battling for the Libertarian nomination against Matt Scaro and Kash Jackson.
