Despite Blago tapes, Pritzker defends his public service career

(CHICAGO) Democrat J B Pritzker is defending himself again as Republican Governor Bruce Rauner is about to play FBI wiretaps of Pritzker and the now-imprisoned ex-Gov Rod Blagojevich on several TV stations across the state on Saturday.

Pritzker told the Sun Times this week he regrets the tone of some of the portions of the tapes and now, before the Tribune Editorial Board, he tried to set the tone of the times when the tapes were made, saying “If people who voted for Rod Blagojevich had known that he was engaging in the activities that he was, nobody would have voted for him, nobody would have supported him, no one would have spoken to him and hundreds did at the time. I’ve never been accused of any wrongdoing, I have not done anything wrong and I’ve been proud of the work I’ve done in public service over many, many years and I think that lifetime of public service is what people are looking at.”

At his side, fellow candidate Daniel Biss quickly countered with this, “”If that phone call is your definition of public service, you’re doing it wrong.”
