(CHICAGO) A just released TV ad from the Jeanne Ives for Governor campaign is causing an uproar. The commercial features actors thanking Governor Bruce Rauner for policies benefitting Chicago teachers, or women seeking taxpayer-funded abortions. It also features what appears to be a male actor playing a transgender female.
Democratic candidates and advocacy groups are condemning the ad, which is running statewide this weekend, as “repulsive” and “appalling.”
The Ives campaign responded by saying the ad “represents Governor Rauner’s chosen constituents based on the policy choices he made.”
