Ives attacks Rauner’s leadership over new Quincy Home Legionnaires case

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) In the race for governor, Republican challenger Jeanne Ives is on the attack against Bruce Rauner over the discovery of another case of Legionaries disease at the Quincy Veterans Home.

Jeanne Ives claims it’s too dangerous for any veterans to remain at the Quincy Home under Rauner’s lack of leadership and so the time has come to move them all out, “Wherever they need to go. Wherever we can find a place for them. If we have to move them to the Westin Hotel, so be it until we solve this problem.”

But Rauner says moving them may also be dangerous, noting “Here’s the issue. Our veterans are very vulnerable, very susceptible to injury, to illness and they’;re very fragile. Moving them increases significant risk for other infections and other physical ailments.”
