(CHICAGO) In the race for governor, Democrat Chris Kennedy has a new idea to combat gun violence.
Kennedy says even the State of Illinois is helping gun makers make more money, noting “The Illinois General assembly’s pension investiments are in a co-mingled fund that invests in guns and equipment. today, I’m calling for the state to dis-invest from companies and index funds that profit from the very things that are hurting our state.”
Kennedy estimates the state investment in guns is about $10M, which is a fraction of total investments, but he says, still too much.
