Raoul raises eyebrows over an ethics in government an issue

(CHICAGO) In the race for Illinois Attorney General, State Sen Kwame Raoul is raising some eyebrows about an ethics-in-goverment issue.

Whaddya think? Should a state legislator be making money from an entity that interacts with the State of Illinois?

Nine of the ten candidates for attorney general say that to one degree or another that shouldn’t be happening, but not St. Sen. Kwame Raoul, who says “I don’t agree. I think we have a citizens legislature. I’m working right now with the Campaign for Political Reform on expanding the disclosure on the Statement of Economic Interest, but by way of embracing that we have a citizens legislature, everything comes into conflict. Every profession comes into conflict with state law at some point or the other and that’s where recusal comes into place.”

Recusal there means just not voting when there’s a conflict of interest.
