Berrios gets a second challenger

(CHICAGO) In the very competitive race for Cook County Assessor, embattled Assessor and party chairman Joe Berrios has gotten some good news.

The good news for Berrios is that the appellate court has put a second challenger back on the ballot, thus splitting the anti-Berrios vote.

But the second challenger, Andrea Raila, doesn’t see it that way, saying “I’m the only taxpayer advocate and expert on that ballot. Let me tell ya, there’s seven people running in that Attorney General office, right? You think that’s a lot of clutter. Should we ask Sharon and Nancy to step down? No! You don’t ask people to step down and with draw from a race. This is not what democracy looks like.”

The leading challenger Fritz Kaegi begs to disagree that she’s the only taxpayer advocate and expert on the ballot, and he argues he can still knock off Berrios with her on the ballot.
