(CHICAGO) State Representative Jeanne Ives is citing evidence that she can beat Gov Bruce Rauner.

Ives claims to be within 7 points of Rauner and she likes her chances for an upset because she thinks Rauner’s support is thin.

“Bruce has no base,” she says, “He’s counting on uninformed voters to go to the polls and believe he’s still fighting Mike Madigan and to believe I’m Mike Madigan’s lacky, which everybody knows is completely false. He’s counting on you not knowing the truth about him.”

Rauner says the truth about him is that he’s the only Republican who could beat JB Pritzker. Chris Kennedy or Daniel Biss, he doesn’t target.
