Emanuel: Lawsuit against Obama Library is “frivolous”

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) The Obama Presidential Center plan goes before the Chicago Plan Commission today.

The Plan Commission is expected to rubber stamp the zoning and other legalities for the Obama Center.

That’s not to say there won’t be a lot of noise in public testimony against it.

Arguments raised in a lawsuit will be raised here, but Mayor Emanuel calls the arguments “frivolous,” adding “This is an incredible investment. It’s one of the largest investments in the South Side in decades. Thousands of jobs! It’s going to be the first presidential library that’s gonna have a neighborhood library as a part of it. This is a lawsuit from a group based in Milwaukee. This is a frivolous lawsuit!”

More interesting will be whether the insolvent state of Illinois will commit millions to the Obama Center.
