CPS vows to run new background checks

(CHICAGO) In the Chicago Public Schools sex abuse scandal, CPS has announced a new Plan of Action to deal with its sex abuse scandal.

CPS is now promising to run a new background check this summer on ALL adults who regularly work in the system’s 646 schools.

CPS CEO Janice Jackson says this includes teachers, coaches, volunteers and vendors, noting “This is not just about ferreting out bad actors, but we also have an opportunity to create a culture in CPS that doesn’t allow this to continue to happen.”

Earlier this week she bowed to public pressure and put the CPS inspector general on the case.
