Rauner applauds Trump on immigration process executive order

(CHICAGO)  In the race for governor, Governor Rauner is applauding President Trump for his executive order ending more separations of children from their detained parents at the Mexican border.

Rauner’s challenger J B Pritzker loves to say the governor and the president are “silent partners,” but Rauner’s not afraid to praise the president for this executive order,

“Separating families is heart-breaking. I don’t think it’s good policy. I want to thank and applaud the president for signing and executive order to end that. Now they’re keeping families together as they are evaluated as the immigration process is unfolding.”

Balancing out this gratitude for Trump though, Rauner again expressed concern that Trump’s tariffs may prompt a trade war that will be detrimental to Illinois exports.
