Emanuel on Janus Victor: Rauner should have worked with unions

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel has biting reaction to something Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said about how the Trump nominee to succeed Justice Kennedy should be handled after McConnell earlier blocked President Obama’s nominee.

Mitch McConnell is promising a vote on the nominee before the mid-term elections and he says it is imperative that the nominee be treated fairly.

Rahm pounced, stating “Give me a break. You have no self-respect after what you just did to President Obama which has never been done to another president in the history of the United States, and you ask for a fair hearing? You have the gall to do that is what I say.”

The mayor was also pouncing on Governor Rauner for celebrating his Janus victory in the Supreme Court. He said Rauner should have tried to work with unions rather than break them.
