(CHICAGO) — The Chicago Police Department is named in a lawsuit filed over “predictive policing” programs.

Also in the lawsuit, New York and Los Angeles. The departments are all being sued for not releasing information about their “predictive policing” programs.

The programs use computer algorithms that produce lists of people and neighborhoods that officers should target.

The groups that filed the lawsuit say they want the departments to release the information to determine if the programs are fair.

Police say some information about the programs are proprietary, and they also have privacy and safety concerns over data already in the systems.
