McCarthy backtracks on criticism of President Trump

(CHICAGO)  In the race for mayor, challenger Garry McCarthy is backpedaling on his criticism of President Trump.

On Monday, McCarthy issued a statement he was “opposed to the misguided, divisive tone and policies of Donald Trump.”

On Tuesday he was on Fox News saying, “Well, this is not about the policies as much as the polarization that’s going on in this country and in this city. Rahm Emanuel is a polarizing figure and we need to bring this city together. And I think on a national level that same issue is happening and we’ve gotta stop it. We’ve got to get behind the president. We’ve got to get together and have policies that reflect our values.  It’s not so much that I’m against the president and his policies. It’s more about the divisiveness that’s going on in this country right now.”

Garry McCarthy is learning to be a politician, fast.
