Butter cow can’t spell

(SPRINGFIELD) Ahead of the official opening of the Illinois State Fair, the Butter Cow has been unveiled, but there appears to be an “udderly” ridiculous mistake.

The cow, a staple of the fair since the 1920s, is meant to celebrate Illinois’ bicentennial this year. But the butter bovine unveiled for a press preview earlier this week is instead celebrating the state’s “Bicenntenial.”

Folks on social media are suggesting the spelling error could be corrected with a hot butter knife.

The cow was created by an Iowa couple. Midwest Dairy, which represents dairy farmers in several Midwest state, says “you butter believe” that a representative is looking into the spelling error.

The state fair opens tonight with the annual Twilight Parade.
