City Hall fight looming over Ride Sharing services

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO)  At City Hall, a fight is brewing over propose limits on ride-sharing like Uber and Lyft.

The idea is to do what New York City has just done, protect the cabbies a little by imposing a limit on ride-share licenses and a minimum wage for the drivers.

Mayor Emanuel is sounding like he’s against it.

“At the end of the day, it’s good that the people of the City of Chicago have choices,” says Emanuel, “Ride-share is affecting the public transportation, but if we can make it safe, secure and relieable, we’re gonna win our share of the future business.”

But Aldermen Ed Burke and Tony Beale are behind the changes, so this isn’t going away anytime soon.
