Lightfoot stays in Mayoral race even if Preckwinkle jumps in

(CHICAGO)  Candidate for mayor Lori Lightfoot is vowing to stay in the race, even if Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle jumps in.

On the line from Washington where she’s on a fundraising trip, Lightfoot Told WLS she’s not going anywhere, “I have absolutely no intention of dropping out. Quite the contrary, I’m in Washington DC today helping raise money for my campaign. The outreach that I have received from people from all over the city from Rahm’s announcement last Tuesday has been powerful, humbling but I am really grateful for it and we are moving full steam ahead!”

On the issues, Lightfoot is coming out for Alderman Ameya Pawar’s controversial pilot program for universal basic income. That would provide poverty-stricken Chicagoans with an income floor from “government resources” and private-sector improvements like a higher minimum wage and eliminating wage theft.
