(CHICAGO) In a busy day in the race for mayor, one big name says he’s not running and another will only say she’s “interested.”

First, retiring Congressman Luis Gutierrez said he’s not running but the man he recommended to replace him in congress,Chuy Garcia should run again for mayor.

“He came here when he was ten years old, on a green card,” said Gutierrez, “ I can’t think of a better more fitting example of resistance to Donald Trump than for him to be the mayor of this wonderful City of Chicago.”

Then Cook County Board president Toni Preckwinkle continued to play it coy by only saying she’s “interested” in running, “You’ve heard over the past few days from my political director who said correctly that I’m interested and I’ll leave it at that for now.”

Sounds like Preckwinkle hasn’t lined up the political support yet that she thinks she needs to win.

If she and Garcia do run, she’d be competing with her own county board floor leader.
