(CHICAGO) — A poll out by his Democratic opponent shows that U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Wheaton) may be in trouble.

The poll, commissioned by Sean Casten’s campaign shows the Democrat ahead 47 to 44 percent with 9 percent undecided.

A Roskam campaign spokeswoman downplayed the poll telling the Sun Times, “We are confident that voters will stick with Peter Roskam who has been an effective leader for Illinois.”

Roskam has represented Illinois’ 6th congressional district since 2007. He received criticism last year for refusing to hold town hall meetings.
