An Obama-era ban on mining near the Grand Canyon will remain in effect after the Supreme Court declined to review it.

The rule established a 20-year ban on any new mining claims in a 1,500-square-mile area around Grand Canyon National Park, over concerns about polluting the Colorado River.

Mining lobbyists have pushed for President Trump to reverse the ban, hoping to access the rich uranium deposits in the area.
